For many graduates, NYSC online registration is the moment the service year starts feeling real. But rushing through the process can create problems that follow you all the way to camp.
From checking the Senate List to completing biometrics, uploading documents and making your Remita payment, every stage matters.
This updated NYSC online registration guide explains who can register, what you need, how the process works, common errors and what to do after registration.
What Does NYSC Online Registration Mean?
NYSC online registration is the official process through which eligible Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) enroll for the National Youth Service Corps.
Registration is completed through the NYSC portal and involves submitting your personal and academic information, verifying your identity, completing biometric and image capture, and uploading documents where required.
Successful registration puts you on the mobilization process and allows NYSC to generate your call-up number for deployment.
Who Is Eligible to Register for NYSC?
NYSC online registration is for eligible Nigerian graduates of universities and polytechnics, whether they studied in Nigeria or abroad.
This includes:
Locally trained graduates whose names have been submitted on the approved Senate List.
PCMs who will qualify for exemption or exclusion.
Foreign-trained graduates who have the required credentials and verification.
Married female PCMs applying for concessional posting to their husbandâs state of residence.
There is no concessional posting for married male graduates.
NYSC Registration Requirements: What You Need
Prepare your documents and information before visiting an accredited registration centre.
Basic requirements
NIN: Your National Identification Number is required for identity verification. You need the number, not necessarily the NIN slip.
JAMB Registration Number: Required for graduates who studied in Nigeria and helps verify admission details.
Matriculation Number: Your schoolâs unique academic identification number.
Active Email Address: Needed for account confirmation and password recovery. Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Outlook can be used.
Active Phone Number: Use a number you can maintain throughout your service year.
Your name must also appear on the NYSC Senate List before you begin registration.
Other information you will provide
The registration form also requires details such as:
Title and gender
Marital status
Place of birth
Blood group and genotype
Nationality and state of origin
LGA
Disability and health status
Present and permanent addresses
Town/village
Next of kin and emergency contacts
Educational history
Military, paramilitary or national awards, if any
Nigerian languages spoken
States visited
Shirt, trouser and shoe sizes
Signature
There is no passport upload section. Your photograph is captured through a webcam during registration, together with your biometrics. You must therefore register yourself and not through another person.
Extra Documents for Married Female PCMs
A married female PCM seeking concessional posting to her husbandâs state of residence may be required to upload:
Marriage certificate or affidavit
Domicile letter
OâLevel certificate
Newspaper publication of change of name
Husbandâs ID card
Utility bill
Documents for Foreign-Trained Graduates
Foreign-trained graduates have additional requirements for NYSC registration and verification, including:
International passport
Original degree or HND certificate
Academic transcript
Evaluation letter
OâLevel certificate
These credentials must also be presented during physical verification.
Donât Use Just Any Cyber CafĂ©
NYSC registration involving biometrics and image capture should be completed at an accredited registration centre.
NYSC introduced accredited operators to reduce registration errors and ensure PCMs are properly captured.
You can check approved operators through the CBO (Cyber Café Business Owners) website. You can also use the NYSC mobile app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to find accredited operators listed by state.
Their phone numbers are also provided, allowing you to contact a centre before visiting.
Avoid operators who promise special NYSC services or anything beyond the standard registration process for extra fees

How to Complete NYSC Online Registration

Fresh Registration if you have never registered.

Before submitting, check your names, date of birth, academic information and uploaded documents.
Do not rush this stage. Most information cannot simply be edited after submission.
Step 10: Make your payment

Your call-up number is usually released after registration. Once it appears, you can log in and print your NYSC Green Card.
Step 12: Print your call-up letter
When NYSC begins posting, your call-up letter will show your deployment state and reporting date for orientation camp.
How Much Does NYSC Registration Cost?
NYSC set a âŠ3,000 benchmark as the official service charge for accredited cyber cafĂ©s under the NYSC CBO guidelines.
However, the amount a PCM actually pays at a café can be higher because operators have other costs such as internet, rent and fuel.
In practice, many PCMs pay around âŠ7,000ââŠ10,000 for the registration service and related payment.
If a café charges an unusually high amount, you can report the operator through the NYSC mobile app.
NYSC Remita Payment Explained
After completing registration, eligible PCMs may see a âMake Paymentâ option on their dashboard.
The payment is processed through Remita and can be made using:
ATM card
Internet banking
Bank payment using a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR)
The amount shown on the NYSC portal is approximately âŠ3,000 for the call-up letter and related processing.
After successful payment, your dashboard should reflect the payment status as PAID.
What if your Remita payment is not showing?
Use the payment status portal and enter the email address you registered with.
If the status shows:
Success (Used): Your payment went through.
Pending (Not Used): Select Get Status under the Remita Status column.
If it still does not change to Success (Approved), contact the cyber café operator who processed the payment.
You can also log in to your dashboard and attempt the payment again where appropriate.
Common NYSC Registration Errors and What to Do
Even when you have everything ready, technical problems can happen.
Portal wonât load
Heavy traffic can make the portal slow.
Try:
Refreshing the page.
Switching browsers, such as Chrome or Firefox.
Checking the cafĂ©âs internet connection.
Trying again during quieter periods such as early morning or late evening.
âNo Record Foundâ
This can happen when your school has not uploaded your information or when there is a mismatch.
Check your matriculation number carefully and contact your schoolâs mobilization or records office.
Also confirm that your name is properly reflected on the Senate List.
NIN does not exist on NIMC
First, recheck the NIN digits you entered.
If the details are correct but the record cannot be found, verify that the NIN is active and visit an NIMC office if your record needs correction or updating.
Biometric or image capture fails
Ask the operator to retry the fingerprint capture and ensure your fingers and face are properly positioned.
The photo background should be white or off-white, with both ears visible.
If the equipment is faulty, use another accredited centre. A temporary NYSC server problem can also cause failed captures.
Wrong name or date of birth
Minor name corrections can be requested through your NYSC dashboard.
For major name errors, contact your schoolâs Students Affairs Officer.
For date-of-birth correction, use the WAEC verification PIN on your dashboard. Approval is not guaranteed.
Wrong course of study
Apply for course correction through your NYSC dashboard and inform your Students Affairs Officer so the request can be approved from the schoolâs end.
Once approved, it usually takes less than 30 minutes to reflect.
What Is NYSC Revalidation?
Revalidation is for PCMs who previously completed NYSC registration, received a call-up letter but did not report to camp.
It allows NYSC to reactivate the previous registration and assign the PCM to another batch without starting fresh registration again.
If you have never registered before, revalidation does not apply to you.
What Happens After NYSC Registration?
Completing registration is only the beginning. Keep checking your NYSC dashboard for updates.
Call-up number
Your call-up number may appear a few days after registration and can sometimes take longer. If you donât receive one immediately, it may mean you have been moved to another stream.
Green Card and Addendum
Once your call-up number becomes available, your Green Card and Addendum Slip can be printed from the dashboard.
The Green Card is important for camp documentation.
Start preparing for camp
Use the waiting period to prepare your camp items, including white wears, toiletries, mosquito net, waist pouch and padlock.
Call-up letter
Your call-up letter contains your deployment state and camp reporting date. Print it in colour and keep extra copies for camp documentation.
Keep checking your dashboard
NYSC can update information on your dashboard, including correction approvals, upload sections for married women and changes to your state code.
NYSC Online Registration FAQs
When does NYSC registration start?
Registration dates depend on the batch and stream. Always check the latest NYSC timetable and official announcements.
Can I register twice?
No. If you already registered and received a call-up number but didnât report to camp, you should use revalidation, not fresh registration.
Can I correct my name or date of birth after registration?
Yes, correction requests can be made through the NYSC dashboard. Date-of-birth correction requires a WAEC verification PIN.
Is payment for the call-up letter compulsory?
If you want to print the call-up letter from your dashboard, the required payment must be made. The payment is approximately âŠ3,000 through Remita.

Check your name and date of birth.
Confirm your Senate List details are correct.
Review your academic information.
Check all uploaded documents.
Make sure your contact information is accurate.
Keep your NYSC login details secure.
Use a unique NYSC password rather than one you use for other accounts.
Never register through someone else or allow another personâs biometrics to be used.
